News › Jena Education Center · Dr. Nadin Riedl takes over as director
Dr. Nadin Riedl succeeds Dr. Stephan Meiser
Dr. Nadin Riedl took over the management of the »Jenaer Bildungszentrum – SCHOTT, CARL ZEISS, JENOPTIK« (JBZ) on December 1, 2022. She succeeds Dr. Stephan Meiser, who will end his work at the JBZ on January 31, 2023 and will still be available as a consultant until then.
Riedl earned her doctorate in Leipzig after studying education, media and communication sciences there. In recent years, she was head of vocational training at Leipziger Aus- und Weiterbildungsbetriebe GmbH. In this role, she was responsible for all training at the Leipziger Verkehrsbetriebe Group.
Udo Schlickenrieder, Managing Director of the JBZ, congratulated the new head and underlined the importance of the tasks ahead: »We as the Jena Education Center have the claim to ensure training that is oriented to the requirements and needs of practice, adapts to developments and establishes a close relationship to the later professional environment.«
He pointed out that highly attractive training and working conditions are needed to compete for the best minds. Against the backdrop of a massive shortage of skilled workers and the associated sharp rise in the number of apprentices, vocational training is becoming increasingly important. »I am sure that the JBZ will continue to master the challenges of the future under her leadership and further expand its competitive position. For this, I wish Ms. Riedl much joy and creative power,« Schlickenrieder continued.
»I am looking forward to my future tasks at the Jena Education Center, which is, after all, one of the most respected and renowned education service providers in the region,« said Riedl. »There is plenty of room for further development here in attractive areas with modern learning and workplaces, especially with regard to digital solutions and networked working. This will allow topics of the future world of work, such as automation and digitalization, but also manual skills and abilities to be taught even better.«
Schlickenrieder addressed a special word of thanks to his predecessor, Dr. Stephan Meiser, who had headed the JBZ since 2017. His tenure was marked in particular by increasing digitization, the 2020 move to the completely renovated building at Ernst-Ruska-Ring 1 in Jena-Göschwitz and the Corona pandemic. »The years in which he worked here as director were without a doubt the greatest challenge since the JBZ was founded. He mastered this time absolutely brilliantly and always kept a cool head. I would like to express my very special thanks to him for this.«
About the Jena Educational Center
The JBZ was founded in 1991. Its core competencies are vocational orientation, training and continuing education in precision optics, metalworking, electrical/automation technology and laboratory technology.
The Jena Training Center is supported by the shareholders SCHOTT, ZEISS and Jenoptik and, as an inter-company training center, offers vocational training for the future generation of skilled workers to companies in Eastern Thuringia and also outside the region.
Approximately 300 trainees are currently being supervised in various training models. In addition to vocational training, the Jena Education Center is also available to municipal and regional schools as an information and practical partner with programs for career exploration and testing, for example through the use of three student workshops in optics, electronics and metalworking.
The training center has 4,500 square meters of modern space for the training occupations of mechatronics technician, industrial mechanic, precision optician, process mechanic, physics laboratory technician and microtechnologist with the metal workshop as well as laboratories and workshop areas for the precision optics and electronics occupations. A student workshop is attached to each of these three areas.
