News › JENOPTIK – New production facility opened in Dresden
Jenoptik AG officially inaugurated its new production facility for micro-optics in Dresden on May 6, 2025 – the largest single investment project in the company’s recent history with a volume of almost 100 million euros. The new »Fab« combines state-of-the-art production, research and development areas under one roof and currently employs around 100 people.
Representatives from politics, business and science were present at the opening ceremony – including Saxony’s Minister President Michael Kretschmer and Dresden’s Lord Mayor Dirk Hilbert. The new factory strengthens Dresden’s position in Europe’s leading semiconductor cluster »Silicon Saxony« and underlines Jenoptik’s role as a driver of innovation in the field of photonics.
The fab offers 11,000 m² of floor space, including 2,000 m² of clean rooms (ISO 3 and ISO 5), and meets the highest technical and ecological standards – including photovoltaics, energy efficiency measures and planned LEED Gold certification. Micro-optics and sensors are manufactured, which are used in semiconductor lithography and laser material processing, among other things.
With the expansion in Dresden, Jenoptik is not only strengthening its position in the global market, but is also contributing to Europe’s technological sovereignty.
