News › Fraunhofer IOF – Ultra-fast 3D acquisition at automatica 2025

At automatica 2025 in Munich from June 24 to 27, Fraunhofer IOF will be presenting a new single-shot technology for 3D detection of difficult surfaces such as glass, plastic or black metal. The enhanced goROBOT3D system now captures transparent or reflective objects in less than two seconds – previously this took 15 seconds.

At the heart of the innovation is a new type of thermal point pattern method that uses diffractive optical elements (DOE) and only requires a single pair of thermal images for a complete 3D reconstruction. The data is evaluated in milliseconds and converted into precise gripping commands for robots – ideal for use in bin-picking scenarios and flowing production processes.

Visitors will find the Fraunhofer IOF in Hall 4, Stand 319.
