EurOP­TICA Meetup 2024 – Women in STEM and EDI

From 7th to 9th of August, the first EurOP­TICA Meetup under the motto “Women in STEM and EDI” is taking place in Jena. We have pre­pared a rich and diverse pro­gram. It includes talks by OPTICA and SPIE ambassa­dors and local indus­try repre­sen­ta­ti­ves, a work­shop at our local maker­space as well as lab and com­pany tours.

To enable bet­ter plan­ning for us and the hos­ting insti­tu­ti­ons, we ask all par­ti­ci­pants of the invi­ted chap­ters to regis­ter for the event using the form below.

For Thurs­day, you can choose to attend dif­fe­rent com­pany tours based on your inte­rests. Please decide alre­ady now which two tours you want to attend.

What com­pany tours can I attend?

Mor­ning tours (Thurs­day, 9–11am)

In the mor­ning, we will visit ZEISS, one of the world’s lea­ding manu­fac­tu­r­ers of opti­cal sys­tems and elec­tro-opti­cal com­pon­ents, foun­ded here in Jena. You can choose bet­ween two spe­cia­li­zed tours:

1. ZEISS Semi­con­duc­tors & optics pro­duc­tion ››SIGN UP‹‹
2. ZEISS Medi­tec ››SIGN UP‹‹

After­noon tours (Thurs­day, 1–3pm)

1. Fraun­ho­fer Insti­tute for Applied Optics and Pre­cis­ion Engi­nee­ring (IOF) ››SIGN UP‹‹
   A rese­arch insti­tute cove­ring a wide range of topics inclu­ding laser and fiber optics, micro- and nanos­truc­tu­red optics, quan­tum com­mu­ni­ca­tion and quan­tum ima­ging technologies.
2. Leib­niz Insti­tute of Pho­to­nic Tech­no­logy (IPHT) ››SIGN UP‹‹
   A rese­arch insti­tute with a spe­cial focus on bio­pho­to­nics, fiber optics and pho­to­nic detection.
3. Active Fiber Sys­tems (AFS) – MASTER+ tour ››SIGN UP‹‹
   A small num­ber of par­ti­ci­pants may also join local stu­dents of the Mas­ter+ pro­gram on a com­pany tour at AFS, a tech­no­logy lea­der in high-power, fem­to­se­cond fiber lasers.

Please note that your regis­tra­tion is bin­ding, as the hos­ting com­pa­nies need to know in advance who will be joi­ning their tours.
