News › INNOVENT – International standard for magneto-optical sensor technology

Magneto-optical sensors, methods and calibrated systems according to IEC TS 62607–9‑2:2024

As part of the qMOIF research project, INNOVENT has developed an international standard for magneto-optical sensor technology in cooperation with the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB), the International Standards Consulting (ISC) and Tübitak. The IEC TS 62607–9‑2:2024 standard, which was published in July 2024, is a technical specification for testing magnetic materials using magneto-optical sensors. Magneto-optical sensors are of industrial relevance, for example, with regard to the quality control of magnetic encoders for position measuring systems and grain-oriented electrical sheets for transformers. The international standardization of the magneto-optical test procedure now guarantees high technical quality through a unified and regulated standard.   The technical standard is available here: https://webstore.iec.ch/en/publication/67459  Further information on the qMOIF project can be found on the official PTB website at https://www.ptb.de/empir2021/qmoif/project/overview/
