IMMS conducts research to make pioneering results from science accessible to industry through application-oriented developments in order to strengthen their competitiveness with innovations. Developments with industry in turn reveal needs and challenges for new approaches, which IMMS works on in its research fields.

For all of this, IMMS works in interdisciplinary teams and with research partners such as the TU Ilmenau as well as regional and national research institutions and technology providers.

On the basis of its research work, IMMS is developing sensor systems for in-vitro diagnostics, for example, which enable individual, decentralized health monitoring for everyone with electronic rapid tests. Energy-efficient solutions for RFID sensors and IoT systems are being researched in order to open up new applications for cooperative environmental monitoring and make industrial processes more resource-efficient. IMMS is researching solutions for adaptive edge AI systems to enable AI on low-consumption embedded systems in industry and to network them in real time. In order to be able to manufacture the ever-increasing complexity of these integrated systems on ever-smaller semiconductor surfaces, IMMS is researching ever more precise drives for nanometer measurement and structuring of objects.

IMMS supports you throughout your entire research and development process, from the initial idea to the design of components and assemblies to the embedded system, including system integration, prototype construction and transfer to series production as well as production transition.
